PSC 280 - Introduction to Political Philosophy - P.S. Ruckman, Jr. - Rock Valley College |
| Welcome ! This class is the latest addition to the political science offerings of our college. It has been given the highest course number (280) in the discipline after careful consideration. The study of political philosophy familiarizes the student with the lives, circumstances and work of some of history's most elegant, complex and interesting writers and thinkers. Political philosophy stretches across centuries, leaps from continent to continent and empire to empire, but the works that are discussed in this class are also distinct for patterns in style and methodology and their attention to recurring themes. As such, the student of political philosophy is, at once, a student of biography, history, literature, sociology, theology and philosophy, as well as politics. And, of course, there is no "easy" way to do all of that ! Excellent note taking, personal talent and/or discipline to read and the willingness to think critically are a MUST for this course. Please explore the class page and feel free to contact the instructor if you have questions, curiosities or particular concerns. |
